Newton County Jail History
The jail page gives Newton County Jail more local detail than many facility pages. It says the old jail closed on July 1, 2009 because it was over 100 years old and had been in constant operation until closing. Newton County voters passed a bond issue in November 2008 to authorize a new facility. The new jail had a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, September 14, 2012, and the jail opened August 25, 2014.

Holds at Newton County Jail
